In Maryland, like many parts of the United States, there is an urgent need to create opportunities for the youth, especially those facing socio-economic challenges. Investing in these demographics is not just a moral obligation. It also offers a practical solution to wider societal problems, including poverty, unemployment, and inequality.
The state government and various institutions have made noteworthy efforts to foster entrepreneurship and business creation among these groups. Nonetheless, many young people and women remain vulnerable due to limited access to education, lack of information, and other essential socio-economic facilities.
Through the Maryland first edition of the Business Roundabout (BRA), CYWEP USA seeks to equip the African community with the necessary tools on how to create, brand and promote your business in Maryland.
Objectives & Expected Results
a. Objectives
The primary objective of the Business Roundabout is to guide citizens of Maryland with sustainable economic initiatives through practical information, promoting self-employment, and contributing to their socio-economic integration.
Specifically, we aim to:
● Gaither about 150 people, interested in entrepreneurship
● Invite a representative from the department of state, expert in insurance, tax, a project manager and successful business owner.
● Train on entrepreneurial values and qualities.
● workshop about steps to take to open and run a successful online or in person business.
● Train participants on the Master of Business in the Streets (MBS) program.
● The use of social media in a business
● Investment and opportunities in West Africa
b. Expected Results
● Participants are equipped and motivated with entrepreneurial values and qualities, preparing them psychologically to run a successful business.
● Each participant learns the techniques and requirements of their domain and receives their MBS diploma.
● A monitoring and support mechanism is established and operational for three months post-training.
The speakers will be recognized and awarded during a closing event featuring a cocktail party where everyone will have the opportunity to share their experiences. We'll also showcase images from our previous editions in West Africa, demonstrating the successful impact of our programs thus far.
In conclusion, the Maryland first edition of the Business Roundabout Project (BRA) aims to make a significant impact by equipping people with the skills and resources needed to create their own income-generating activities. This initiative is an extension of CYWEP's commitment to empowering children, youth, and women, and we are confident that it will contribute significantly to the socioeconomic development of Maryland.
